What is the role of Trustees

  • Loving accountability: Supportive "critical friends" to ask straight questions and help the church ministers & leadership team stay healthy

  • Strategic governance: Keep the charity working to its vision & values (spiritually & practically). Keeping it fit for purpose to achieve goals ie. HR, finance, legalities, maintaining balance & Godly discernment

  • Drawing on experience for input/skills & wisdom for specific circumstances

  • Independent representation: Representing congregational views - staff pressure value & some HR/grievance involvement

  • 'Elder' characteristics Paul speaks of in the bible (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
