Mentoring is a good opportunity for:

  • A relationship between two people of mutual trust and respect

  • A place to process life and grow in wisdom

  • An opportunity to understand the truth of God’s word and how to apply it

  • A chance to learn about God’s goodness for us in times of growth and challenge

  • A place to sometimes experience brokeness or to face up to difficulties

  • A time to see Holy Spirit transformation in our lives taking us forwards in life

Mentoring is not prayer, healing ministry, or counselling.

Guidance

We are so glad that you have asked to be mentored. It is our intention that you find a safe place in which you can talk your situation over with a caring mentor, who will pray to effectively help you.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

It is our intention that your mentor will be a loving Christian who is wise and discerning. They will have attended training to be part of the mentoring team. They will make time for you, listen to you and pray for you. They will ask Jesus how they can effectively help you as you process life together. They will help you understand and apply the truth of God’s word, enabling you to make wise decisions and where necessary to bring about change in your life’s circumstances.

Our desire is to see people made whole, and we pray that God will bless you and that you will feel loved and cared for.

The church is very committed to the truth and authority of the Bible and in particular the teachings of Jesus Christ as they pertain to life and faith

You will be advised who your mentor is, and the mentor will contact you directly to arrange the session.  Your mentor will decide, with you, whether you need one or more follow up sessions.

LIABILITY

Anyone being mentored should recognise and understand that the people working with them are not licensed or professional mentors but are volunteers.

Before beginning ministry, anyone being mentored acknowledges that they are voluntarily seeking to be mentored for their own freedom and/or benefit and hereby release The Well Church and all individuals involved in the ministry from any liability whether personal or corporate for anything arising from or resulting from this ministry.

If you are currently taking medication, are in treatment or in therapy, you should consult your medical doctor, therapist, psychiatrist or mental health professional before you make any changes to your usual routine.

ACCOUNTABILITY

We operate a policy of strict confidentiality, but not secrecy.  Senior Leaders may therefore be contacted and informed if help or advice is needed.

Please be aware that if any matter arises that we are legally obliged to notify others about (Police, Social Services) then we will notify the relevant authority after having told you that we are going to do so.

We ask you to complete a short Feedback Form in which you will briefly assess the effectiveness of the mentoring in your personal experience.  This will be sent to you to complete and return to The Well Mentoring Co-ordinator.   We hope you will have a positive experience but please let us know if you have any concerns regarding mentoring and be assured you will receive a loving and caring response.  Our aim is to improve the effectiveness of mentoring.
