We’d LOVE you to intern at The Well

The Well Sheffield is a pioneering Baptist Church in the heart of Sheffield.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT…

Since its formation in 2015 The Well has grown to accommodate a bustling and life filled congregation of 600+ amazing people across multiple campuses as we seek to collectively engage and disciple the people of Sheffield.

PASSION FOR JESUS

We are blessed with an incredibly motivated and highly skilled team that love Jesus! And YOU... Yes YOU!, could come and intern alongside us.

DISCIPLESHIP

We believe passionately in the power of discipleship and seek every opportunity to, humbly, learn from scripture and from those who, quite frankly, do things better than us, as we seek to give ourselves away for HIS glory!

So, if this sounds like something you’d be up for then we have an incredible opportunity for YOU!

So what does an Internship at The Well typically look like?

It can be pretty flexible but the two non-negotiables would be:

  • TUESDAY - Team / Role Development Day (core)

  • THURSDAY - Discipleship Day (core)

  • ADDITIONAL DAY(S) - Depending on which area you intern, see the next section of the website for details.

In which areas can I intern?

The Internship is an opportunity for you to serve at The Well in our growing leadership and volunteer team. It’s a chance to explore an area of ministry that interests you and you wish to grow in.

You will gain experience, develop skills, and pour your creativity into chosen areas of church and community life.  In return, The Well will invest into your life and ministry, through an experienced mentor rather like an apprenticeship, and through you being part of the team week in, week out, with further opportunities for indepth discipleship or study.

  • Join The Well at Woodseats, a new church plant in the Woodseats area of Sheffield.

There will be particular emphasis on prayer & worship (don’t worry, you don’t necessarily need to be musical!), community outreach & evangelism, and discipleship.

You will encounter Jesus in new ways; be stretched and pushed out of your comfort zone; witness God using you to lead others to faith and heal the sick; you’ll grow in love, faith, spiritual authority, and skill; you’ll begin to discover and discern more of the unique calling God has on your life…And all in the safety of a loving family of believers who are hungry to become more like Jesus.

A typical week may look something like:

    • 3 x prayer room slots a week

    • Community outreach at least once a week

    • Join in with Wednesday evening & Sun morning church gatherings, and as time goes on, possible opportunities to help lead varying elements of these

    • Opportunity to help out with weekly kids or youth groups

    • Intentionally seeking to develop ongoing discipleship relationship with those connected with through community outreach

This internship will be led by Duncan Akehurst - Minister at The Well in Woodseats.

  • As an intern in Media & Communications we’ll build upon your skills and help The Well to use social media, design, photography, video, web design and creative copywriting to engage the church family and reach the unchurched in Sheffield and beyond.

The Comms team believes the biggest evangelistic opportunities exist through effective and engaging communications.

By interning in the Media & Communications team you will grow professionally and carry these skills into future workplaces, you’ll grow spiritually as we aim to mirror Jesus in this context and you’ll grow personally as you join the team and develop your interpersonal skills.

We’d aim to have 1-3 core days in the Comms department as part of the week.

    SKILL LEVEL
In order to intern in this team, we’d love to see a portfolio of your work and demonstrated interest in a creative discipline (such as graphic design or photography for example). This will be demonstrated at interview.

This internship will be overseen by David Sisson, Head of Operations.

  • This is an exciting opportunity as the intern can serve and develop mission and leadership skills in and through a variety of settings with children and families at The Well and in the local community.

There is opportunity for a tailor made programme to suit and stretch the individual(s).
