WEDNESDAY 8th april

MORNING PRAYERS (Nick Allan - lead, Duncan Akehurst - worship)

The Third word: “Woman, behold your son!” (John 19:26-27)

As Jesus is on the cross He looks down and sees his mother weeping. Even whilst He is suffering as the Saviour of the world He would have been suffering as a son. Seeing his mother in such pain and knowing that she would be without financial and practical support he asks John to take care of her as his own mother.

Jesus’ love for his mother would never cease, but is now going to be practically expressed through John. In the same way Jesus loves all people, and asks us to express His love practically to others. Who might Jesus be calling you to care for and how?

Materials needed at home: None

Creative response: Take a moment in the quiet. Ask God to bring to your mind one person that He wants you to do something kind for today. If you are with others then take a few moments and chat about ways in which you could practically love that person at this time and in the season we are in. With social distancing you will need to be even more creative with your ideas :)

Take time later on today to do those things that you have discussed.
